Blessings for Food and Drink

These are short traditional blessings which can be recited before eating different categories of food, be it as a meal or a snack. There are blessings for eating fruits (that grow on trees), vegetables (that grow on the ground), grains, miscellaneous foods (that do not grow in soil, like dairy and meat), along with blessings specifically for bread, and wine.

If eating a meal with many of these categories of food along with bread, traditionally the blessing for bread is considered sufficient to cover all foods consumed in that meal, with the exception of wine which always requires its own blessing. If a meal with various types of food is eaten without bread, the blessing for miscellaneous foods is sufficient to cover the whole meal.
